Registered Nurse
Position Purpose
The Registered Nurse (RN) shall perform in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and shall be utilized in accordance with basic principles of the professional nurse. All functions shall be performed in accordance with the established policies and practices of CareMate Home Health Care, Inc. The RN performs functions, which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and skill based upon the principles of psychological, physiological and social sciences and must make nursing judgements accordingly. The RNCM reports to the CareMate Home Health Care, Inc. nursing supervisor.
Professional / Personal Qualifications
1. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
2. Current registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
3. Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute hospital setting or equivalent experience.
4. Demonstrate ability to make good nursing judgements.
5. Exhibit professional behavior.
6. Possess and maintain good physical and mental health, including yearly negative Mantoux or negative chest x-ray every year.
7. Have successfully completed the RN / LPN skills test.
8. Be an U.S. citizen, or have evidence of a valid alien work permit.
Specific Functions / Responsibilities
- To provide quality, professional nursing care.
- To demonstrate dependability.
- To maintain a safe environment for patients.

- To function as a case manager accurately assessing, planning, and implementing patient care, assessing the patient’s progress toward stated goals and revising the Care Plan accordingly.
- To perform total patient care.
- To document changes in the Care Plan and make appropriate notes in the patient’s chart within twenty-four (24) hours.
- To initiate preventative and rehabilitative nursing procedures and techniques.
- To initiate appropriate communication with the Physician and Director of Nursing and others as necessary to provide comprehensive care.
- To perform therapeutic procedures as prescribed by the physician.
- To supervise auxiliary personnel and to delegate responsibilities when required.
- To work with families and other health care professionals in providing continuity of patient care.
- To promote health counseling of the patient and the family.
- To demonstrate knowledge of current health practices when performing observation and evaluation of patient care.
- To function adequately whenever assigned to a specialty assignment after qualifying with special training, proven competency, clinical background and experience in the specialty area.
- To assume responsibility for professional growth and development by active participation in continuing education, in-service programs, orientation and personal evaluation.
- To serve on the Chart Audit Review Committee.
- To accept and fulfill assignments with CareMate Home Health Care, Inc.
- To exercise judgement in accepting assignments.
- To demonstrate adequate knowledge of Federal, State and local regulatory guidelines in safe delivery of patient cares.
- To conduct timely OASIS and other required patient assessments.
